  • 1 lb elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup smoked gouda, shredded
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. 1. Cook pasta: Boil salted water and cook 1 lb elbow macaroni until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. 2. Make cheese sauce: Melt 2 tbsp butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in ½ cup flour for about 2 minutes until bubbly. Gradually add 2 cups whole milk, whisking until thickened.
  3. 3. Add cheese: Stir in 2 cups sharp cheddar and 1 cup smoked gouda until melted. Season with 1 tsp smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
