  • 8 oz kunafa pastry (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp rose water or orange blossom water
  • Chopped pistachios or almonds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat.
  3. Gently pull apart the kunafa strands and mix them with the melted butter until evenly coated.
  4. Form small mounds of the kunafa mixture on the baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
  6. While baking, whisk together heavy cream, milk, sugar, and rose or orange blossom water until soft peaks form.
  7. Once cooled, hollow out the centers of each kunafa nest and fill generously with the cream mixture.
  8. Garnish with chopped nuts and optionally sprinkle with powdered sugar.
