  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tbsp mustard (yellow or Dijon)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • Reserved pasta water as needed

Instructions

  1. Cook elbow macaroni in salted boiling water until al dente (7-8 minutes). Drain and reserve some pasta water.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef with chopped onion until translucent (5-6 minutes). Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Stir in ketchup, mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper; mix well.
  4. Lower heat and add milk along with drained macaroni. Gradually stir in shredded cheddar until melted and creamy.
  5. Adjust sauce consistency with reserved pasta water if necessary. Serve hot and enjoy!
